Back in the early 1990's, when studying for my ANZCA fellowship, I created a study aid for biochemistry profiles. This was written for my own use but the then President of ANZCA (Dick Willis) was reading over my shoulder one day and suggested I should submit it as my formal project - so who was I to argue ! The impetus for this (and the initial bulk of the profiles) was stolen directly from Graeme Duke's study notes. Graeme was the SR in ICU at Flinder's Medical at the time I started ANZCA training! Numerous profiles have been added over the years, with block contributions from Drs Tub Worthley and Toby Thomas, sequential Directors of ICU at the RAH. Ergo, there is quite a bit of repetition with multiple examples of certain profiles but this isn't a bad thing from a study/learning perspective! This was originally written in Asymetrix Toolbook®, which is now long-obsolete. You can still install the runtime library (PC only - Win11) via the file below (this is safe - but we take no responsibility) and then run the program: Having recently retired but still being involved with teaching, I have ported this to a web-based platform to make things simpler. This is now OS independent and allows easy modification and/or extension of profiles as needed, c.f. the ToolBook version which is 'locked in time'. Copies of my study notes, which include much of the "Analysis" content from the profiles can be found on the main SAICA website. Should you find any problems with the files, or have any other general comments, please e-mail me. Regards, |
